Service & terms

What you get, how it works, and what you agree to.

Piper connects four kinds of people: businesses with things to sell, affiliates who share what they love, customers looking for good products, and riders who deliver them. Find your section below — everything you need to know is in one place.

Before you sign up

Quick eligibility check.

A few things apply to everyone, regardless of role. Read these once before you start.

Age & identity

You must be 18 or older to sell, earn commission, or deliver. Customers buying through Piper must also be 18+ because checkout requires a payment method. Government-issued ID is required for working roles.

Where we operate

Piper is Nigeria-first. Sellers, affiliates, and riders need a Nigerian bank account and BVN. Customers can pay from international cards but delivery is currently within Nigeria only.

What to have ready

Phone number, email, BVN, NUBAN. Businesses additionally need a tax ID (TIN) and CAC number if registered. Riders also need vehicle and insurance info. Sole proprietors are welcome — no company registration required.

Account security

Two-factor authentication is required on accounts that hold money or earn commission. We will never ask for your password by email, phone, or chat. If something feels off, contact support immediately.

Languages

The platform is in English today. Customer support is available in English and Pidgin; additional Nigerian languages are on the roadmap.

If we can't serve you

If your KYC doesn't pass or your role isn't supported in your area yet, we'll tell you within a few business days and explain what's needed. You can re-apply once the gap is closed.

For businesses

Sell directly. Or let people share you.

Piper gives you two ways to grow: a clean storefront for direct sales, and an affiliate engine for when you want other people to spread the word and only pay them when they actually deliver a sale.

01What you can do here

Publish your products. Set your prices. Choose how you want to be discovered.

Sell directly

  • Customers find your products and buy. You pay a small platform fee.
  • Money settles to your bank. We never hold your funds.
  • You handle returns and customer support, the way you want to.
  • Lower fees because you don't need our extra services.

Sell through affiliates

  • Create a campaign. Set the commission you'll pay per sale.
  • Affiliates pick up your campaign and share it.
  • You only pay when a sale happens. Like Google Ads, but for friends.
  • We handle attribution, payouts, and disputes for you.

02What you can sell

Three kinds of things, each with their own delivery and payment shape.

Physical goods

  • Anything you ship or deliver in person
  • Food, restaurant orders, groceries
  • Fashion, beauty, jewelry
  • Electronics, home & garden, health
  • Uses our rider network or self-delivery (direct sales)

Digital goods

  • Anything delivered as a file or access link
  • Software, ebooks, courses
  • Music, videos, templates
  • Digital art, downloadable assets
  • Customer gets access immediately after payment

External affiliate links

  • Products sold by another company on their own site
  • You publish a campaign that points to their link
  • Affiliates promote it; commission tracked back to your campaign
  • Money never touches Piper — pure attribution layer
  • Useful for brands extending their existing affiliate program

What we don't allow

  1. Regulated securities & tokenised assets. Anything that needs SEC Nigeria registration is excluded unless you're separately licensed.
  2. Infringing copies. Pirated software, ebooks, music, courses, or anyone else's intellectual property.
  3. Illegal goods. Anything banned for sale under Nigerian law.
  4. Adult content. Not a fit for the platform.
  5. Weapons, ammunition, or controlled substances. Not at all.
  6. High-risk financial products. Loans, investment schemes, "guaranteed return" products — we don't host these.

03How it works, end to end

Create your business profile

Have ready: BVN of the authorized representative, NUBAN, tax ID (TIN), and CAC certificate if you're a registered company. Sole proprietors are welcome — no company registration required. Verification typically takes 1–3 business days.

Upload your products

Add titles, photos, prices, descriptions. Tag them with categories so people can find them. Stock can be tracked or always-available — your choice per product.

Pick how you want to sell

Direct only? Or do you want affiliates promoting it too? You can do both — direct for some products, campaigns for others.

If running campaigns: set your terms

Commission rate, cookie window, brand guidelines. Affiliates browse and join campaigns that match their audience.

A customer buys

Money lands in your bank account after a short wait window — usually the next business day for clean sales, longer if there's an open dispute.

Handle deliveries

Hand off to one of our rider partners or use your own. Either way, the customer gets real-time tracking and you get proof of delivery.

04What it costs

Direct sales
2–4%
platform fee per sale
Campaign sales
5–15%
platform + affiliate commission
Settlement
T+1
to your bank, typically
Reserve
5–15%
campaign sales only, refunded as disputes age out

05What we take care of

We handle

  • Payment processing through trusted gateways
  • Affiliate attribution and commission math
  • Dispute coordination with card issuers
  • Stamp duty and VAT calculation on platform fees
  • Daily settlement reconciliation
  • Fraud monitoring across the platform

You handle

  • Accurate product information and pricing
  • Order fulfillment within your stated time
  • Honoring your stated return policy
  • Your own income tax and business filings
  • Customer service for product questions
  • Brand consistency in your campaigns

06Doing your own deliveries

If you want to deliver your own orders — common for restaurants, neighborhood shops, or anyone with a small local radius — you can, on direct sales only. Self-delivery is not available on campaign orders, because affiliates brought those customers in expecting our fulfillment standards and dispute coverage.

Because you're delivering your own goods on a direct sale, you can also accept cash on delivery. That's just a normal cash sale, the same as a customer walking into your shop.

What you can do

  • Mark your direct-sale orders as self-delivered when you create them
  • Accept card, transfer, virtual-account, or cash at the door
  • Confirm delivery with a photo and a code from the customer
  • Run direct sales (self-delivery) and campaigns (rider network) side by side

How the platform fee settles on cash orders

  • You owe Piper its platform fee on every sale, including cash ones
  • It comes out of your next card-sale settlement (settlement-offset), or from a small pre-funded buffer you maintain
  • If your buffer goes negative, cash COD is auto-paused until you top up or settle a card sale
  • No affiliate commission complexity here — campaigns can't be self-delivered

07Common questions

Can I have multiple staff on my business account?

Yes. The business owner can invite team members with role-based access — for example, a fulfillment person who can manage orders but not change bank details, or a catalog person who can edit products but not view payouts.

Can I run promo codes and discounts?

Yes. You can issue percentage or fixed-amount discount codes, with optional minimum order amounts and expiry dates. Discounts apply before commission calculation, so an affiliate's commission is on the discounted price.

How do customer reviews work?

Customers can leave a rating and review after a delivered order. You can publish a one-time response to each review. Reviews are moderated for abuse but not for negativity — honest negative reviews stay visible.

What if a customer doesn't pick up their delivery?

The rider attempts the delivery up to two times based on the customer's instructions. If it still fails, the order is marked undeliverable; the customer is notified. Refund handling and any restocking fee follow your stated return policy.

Can I bulk-update prices or stock?

Yes — via CSV upload or the admin dashboard. API access is available for higher-tier accounts that need to sync from an external system.

What currencies can I price in?

Naira (NGN) is the primary currency. USD and EUR are supported for cross-border digital products. We display the customer's local currency at checkout where applicable.

The rules you accept

  1. Self-delivery is direct-only. Campaign orders must use our rider network. You cannot self-deliver a sale that was brought to you by an affiliate.
  2. Fair pricing. You won't quietly raise prices just to absorb commission costs. Same price across direct and campaign channels.
  3. Equal service. An affiliate-driven order gets the same fulfillment quality and speed as a direct order.
  4. Honest returns. Stated return windows are honored. Making returns hard to avoid commission payouts is a serious breach.
  5. No hidden inventory. If a product is in your catalog as available for affiliate promotion, it's actually available.
  6. Reserve consent. When you run campaigns, we hold a small reserve against chargebacks. It's released as disputes age out.
  7. Cash-sale fees are owed regardless. Self-delivery cash collection is fine, but the platform fee on that sale is still owed and will be deducted from future settlements or your buffer.
  8. Tax obligations. You're responsible for your own taxes. We handle stamp duty and VAT on our fees.
  9. What you can't sell. No regulated securities, no tokenised assets without separate licensing, no infringing copies of someone else's work.
  10. If you leave. You can close your account anytime. Existing settled obligations and any open disputes finish their cycle first.
For affiliates

You already recommend things. Now you get paid.

If you're the friend everyone calls when they need a recommendation — for chin chin, for sneakers, for skincare, for anything — Piper turns that into income. No followers required. No content required. Just trust and a link.

01What you can do here

Browse campaigns from real Nigerian businesses. Pick the products you'd actually recommend. Get a unique link for each one. Share that link wherever you talk to people — WhatsApp, Instagram, Twitter, group chats, anywhere. When someone buys through your link, you earn commission. That's it.

02How it works

Sign up and verify your identity

You give us your phone, BVN, and bank account. This is required by law before we can pay you.

Tell us what you're into

Pick categories that match what you actually use and recommend. We use this to surface campaigns you'll care about.

Browse campaigns

Each campaign shows you the product, the commission rate, the cookie window, and how the brand wants to be talked about.

Join the ones you like

Joining is free. You get a personal link, a QR code, and (for some campaigns) shareable video overlays.

Share your link

WhatsApp, Instagram DMs, Twitter, your status — wherever feels natural. The link is yours; clicks on it get attributed to you.

Someone buys

Commission lands in your Piper balance. You see it live. Pending while the order is in the dispute window, then available.

Withdraw to your bank

Once your available balance crosses the payout threshold, you can withdraw to your verified bank account.

04What's protected, what's expected

What we promise you

  • Transparent attribution — you can see every click and sale tied to your link
  • 48-hour notice before any chargeback debit lands on your balance
  • Tier-based commission upgrades as your performance and trust grow
  • Cross-campaign pooled balance so small earnings add up
  • Honest cookie windows that don't quietly shorten

What we expect from you

  • Promote things you'd actually recommend — your reputation matters
  • Don't buy your own affiliate link to farm commission
  • Respect the brand guidelines on each campaign
  • Don't try to redirect customers off-platform
  • Pay your taxes on what you earn

05Common questions

What if a customer cancels or returns?

If a sale you got commission on later gets refunded or charged back, that commission is reversed. We notify you 48 hours before any debit lands so there are no surprises.

Can I promote anything?

Only things in our active campaigns. The catalog is curated by businesses who've opted into affiliate distribution.

What if I don't have a big following?

You don't need one. Most successful Piper affiliates earn from group chats, family WhatsApp, and people who already trust them — not from broadcasting.

How do tiers work?

Sustained good performance — real sales, low refund rate, no policy violations — moves you into higher tiers with better commission rates and higher payout limits.

How does sub-affiliate recruitment work?

Share your invite link with someone; if they sign up and start earning, you get an override commission (typically 1–2%) on their attributed sales. The chain currently goes one level deep — you earn from people you directly recruited, not from people they recruit.

What if my BVN, phone, or bank details change?

Update them in your account settings. Changing the account holder's identity (e.g., switching the BVN to someone else) requires a re-verification and pauses payouts until it completes. Updating bank or phone is faster but still triggers a short security check.

Does my account expire if I don't use it?

No. Inactive accounts stay open. If you have an unwithdrawn balance for more than 12 months we'll send a reminder, but the money is still yours.

The rules you accept

  1. No buying your own link. Purchasing through your own affiliate link to earn commission on yourself is detected and forfeits the commission plus tier downgrade.
  2. No fake traffic. Click farms, bots, cookie injection, coordinated buying circles — all banned.
  3. Cross-merchant clawback. Your balance is pooled across all your campaigns. A chargeback on one merchant's order may debit commission earned from another, with 48 hours notice.
  4. Identity verification. BVN required before any payout. You can browse without it; you can't withdraw without it.
  5. One account. Multiple accounts to bypass earning caps or fraud thresholds — banned.
  6. Brand respect. Promotional content respects each campaign's brand guidelines.
  7. No platform poaching. Using campaign data to redirect customers off Piper is a serious breach.
  8. Tax responsibility. Commission earnings are your taxable income. We apply withholding where the tax authority requires.
For customers

Buy with confidence. However you arrived.

Whether you found a product directly in our catalog or a friend sent you their link, your checkout, your protections, and your price are exactly the same.

01What you can do here

Browse products from Nigerian businesses. Pay how you want — including paying when the order arrives. Track your delivery. Return something if it's not right. Get refunded if a refund is owed.

02How it works

Find something good

Browse our catalog directly, or click a link a friend sent you. Either way, you see the same product at the same price.

Check out

Pay how you want — see the options below. We never store your card; your bank or Apple does.

Track your delivery

You see where your order is in real time. The rider confirms drop-off with a code only you have.

Get what you ordered

If something's wrong, raise it with us before you call your bank. We resolve faster, and it's easier on everyone.

Ways to pay

What's available depends on the seller and who's delivering.

MethodWhen
CardAlways available at checkout
Bank transferAlways available at checkout
Apple PayWhere supported
Pay on delivery — virtual accountWhen the order qualifies. Rider shows you a one-time virtual account at the door; you transfer; rider confirms and hands over.
Pay on delivery — cashOnly on direct sales where the seller is delivering themselves. Not available with our gig riders, and not on orders you arrived at through an affiliate link.

03Your protections

What we promise you

  • The price you see is the price you pay — affiliate links don't add cost
  • Real-time delivery tracking on every order
  • Drop-off confirmation by code so nobody can claim a delivery you didn't get
  • 72-hour acknowledgment on any complaint or dispute
  • Returns honored within the merchant's stated window
  • Your data stays yours — we don't sell it

What we ask from you

  • Accurate delivery details — bad addresses cost everyone
  • Try the in-platform return path first if something's wrong
  • Don't share your account or login
  • Don't file false claims for free products or refunds
  • Be safe with your payment info

04If something goes wrong

The product never arrived

Open a complaint in your order details. We acknowledge within 72 hours and either refund or escalate with the merchant and rider.

The product arrived damaged or wrong

Take a photo, raise a return request. The merchant has a stated window to approve. Once approved, your refund processes back to your original payment method within 5–10 business days, depending on your bank.

Who pays for return shipping?

If the return is because something was wrong (damaged, incorrect item, not as described), the merchant pays. If you're returning because you simply changed your mind, you pay return shipping unless the merchant's policy says otherwise.

Can I cancel an order before it ships?

Yes — until the merchant marks it as ready for pickup or shipped. After that, you'll need to wait for it and use the return path if needed.

Do I need an account to buy?

You can check out as a guest with just an email and delivery details. We'll still create a lightweight account so you can track your order and handle any disputes — but you don't need to set a password.

What if I'm not home when the rider arrives?

The rider will try to reach you, then attempt one re-delivery based on your instructions. If both attempts fail, the order is returned to the merchant and your refund is processed (minus any restocking fee in the merchant's stated policy).

Can I leave a review?

Yes — after your order is delivered, you can rate and write a review. Honest negative reviews stay visible; merchants can post one response per review.

I see a charge I don't recognize

Tell us first. Most "unrecognized" charges are products bought through an affiliate link where the merchant name didn't ring a bell. We can find the order in seconds.

I want my data deleted

Use the data request option in your account. We'll honor access, erasure, and portability requests under Nigerian data protection law.

The rules you accept

  1. Be truthful. Accurate identity, contact, payment, and delivery details on every order.
  2. Refund-first. Try the in-platform path before going to your bank for a chargeback. Faster for you, cleaner for everyone.
  3. No abuse. Repeated false claims for free product or refund are grounds for account suspension and may be reported.
  4. Affiliate links are fine. You can arrive any way you like; the price is identical.
  5. Your data rights. You can access, port, or delete your data anytime.
  6. Lawful use. Don't use Piper to launder money, evade sanctions, or buy illegal goods.
For riders

Pick up. Drop off. Get paid per delivery.

Piper's delivery network is built so you never have to handle cash, never have to chase payments, and always know what you're getting paid before you accept a job.

01What you can do here

Browse delivery jobs near you with the route and pay shown upfront. Pick what you want. Confirm pickup with a scan, drop off with a code. Earnings settle to your bank on the schedule you pick.

02How it works

Sign up and get verified

Identity, biometric (a quick liveness check), bank account, vehicle and insurance info.

Open the rider app and see jobs

Each job shows pickup, drop-off, distance, and the exact pay. You decide which to accept.

Confirm pickup

Scan the merchant's QR code at pickup. Take a photo of the parcel — your protection if anyone later claims it was damaged.

Deliver and confirm

Customer reads you a one-time code. You enter it. Delivery confirmed. If they're paying on arrival, they pay into a virtual account — never to you directly.

Get paid

Each completed delivery adds to your earnings, settled to your bank on your chosen schedule (daily, weekly, or on-demand above the threshold).

03What's protected, what's expected

What we promise you

  • Pay shown upfront on every job — no surprise deductions
  • You never handle cash on Piper-direct deliveries
  • Photo and code-based proof of delivery protects you in disputes
  • Transparent earnings, settled on your chosen schedule
  • Insurance basics covered through our partner network

What we expect from you

  • Confirm pickup and drop-off — no shortcuts
  • Take pickup photos (damaged-on-arrival defense)
  • Show up reliably; persistent no-shows mean suspension
  • Be safe and respectful with customers and merchants
  • Keep your vehicle and insurance current

04Common questions

What vehicle types do you accept?

Motorcycles, cars, and bicycles for short-range. On-foot delivery is supported in dense areas like markets and campuses for small parcels. Trucks and vans are reserved for partner fleet operators.

What cities are you operating in?

Lagos and Abuja at launch, with Port Harcourt, Ibadan, and Kano following in the rollout. Open the rider app — it'll tell you immediately whether your area is live.

What insurance do I need?

You need valid third-party motor insurance and a current vehicle license. Piper provides parcel-loss cover during transit (so the customer or merchant is protected if a parcel is lost in your care), but your own personal injury and vehicle damage cover is your responsibility.

What if I'm in an accident?

Your safety first — call emergency services if needed. Then notify Piper through the in-app emergency button. If a customer's parcel was involved, our parcel-loss cover handles that side. We don't cover personal injury, so your own insurance matters.

What if a customer is rude or unsafe?

Leave the location. Mark the delivery as failed-due-to-safety in the app. We follow up with the customer; you don't lose pay for a safety-related abort.

What if a customer says I didn't deliver?

The drop-off code is your protection. If you entered the code the customer gave you, the delivery is confirmed. We have your back.

What if a parcel is damaged when I pick it up?

Don't accept it without flagging. Use the app to mark it damaged at pickup; we'll route the dispute to the merchant.

Can I do cash deliveries?

Not as a Piper gig rider. Pay-on-delivery on jobs you accept happens through a virtual account at the door — the customer transfers, you confirm receipt, you don't carry cash. Cleaner and safer for everyone, and it keeps you out of agent-network licensing.

What about cash deliveries by sellers themselves?

Sellers who deliver their own direct-sale orders can collect cash because they're collecting their own sale revenue, not acting as an agent. They can't do that on campaign orders, though — campaign orders always come to you (the rider).

How fast do I get paid?

Same day or next day for most schedules. Weekly settlements are also available if you prefer batched payouts. There's a small flat fee per payout (typically ₦100) and tax withholding may apply once your earnings cross the FIRS threshold.

The rules you accept

  1. Confirm both ends. Scan at pickup, code at drop-off. Bypassing either voids the payout for that delivery.
  2. No cash on direct flows. Pay-on-delivery is settled via virtual account. Carrying cash for Piper-direct orders is not allowed.
  3. Identity is real. Onboarding biometric must match the person doing the deliveries.
  4. Photo evidence. Pickup and drop-off photos are required for damage disputes.
  5. Service standards. Repeated lateness, no-shows, or customer complaints mean suspension from the job feed.
  6. Tax responsibility. Delivery earnings are your taxable income.

Applies to everyone

The shared ground rules.

A few things are true regardless of which role you're in. Read these once.

01Your account

You get one Piper account per identity. Multi-accounting to bypass caps, thresholds, or rules is a serious breach. Your login is yours — don't share it. We'll never ask for your password by email or phone.

02Your money & data safety

Your card details are handled by our payment partners (Paystack, Stripe), not by us — we don't see or store your card numbers. Your personal data is stored in line with Nigerian data protection law. You can request access, portability, or deletion of your data anytime through your account.

03Disputes & how we resolve them

Most issues we see — wrong product, missing delivery, refund needed, commission challenged — are routine and resolved automatically based on the evidence captured at every step (pickup photos, drop-off codes, attribution logs, payment records). For edge cases, our team reviews and decides; the decision is logged with the reason. If you disagree with a decision, you can appeal once.

04Cash on delivery — quick reference

Whether you can pay cash on a given order depends on who's bringing it and how it was sold. Two simple rules: only the seller themselves can collect cash, and self-delivery only happens on direct sales (not affiliate-driven ones).

Who brings the order Cash at the door? Why
Seller delivers their own direct saleYesThey're collecting their own sale revenue, the same as a walk-in shop sale.
Affiliate-driven (campaign) orderNo (use virtual account at door)Campaign orders go through our rider network. Sellers can't self-deliver these.
Piper gig riderNo (use virtual account at door)Gig riders are agents, not principals — different licensing rules apply.
Licensed Super-Agent partner riderYesThe partner's own license covers cash custody.

05What we don't allow, ever

Money laundering, sanctions evasion, terrorist financing, sale of illegal goods, child-harming content, infringing copies of someone else's work, fake KYC documents, harassment of other users. Anything matching these gets banned and where the law requires, reported.

06Account suspension & appeals

If we suspend your account, you'll get an email explaining what happened and what to do next. Most suspensions are temporary holds while we verify something — typically resolved within 3–5 business days once you respond with the requested info. You can appeal any suspension once through the link in that email or by replying to support; appeals are reviewed by a different person from the one who decided the suspension. If your funds are involved, they remain yours and are released as soon as the suspension is lifted (or, if the suspension stands, paid out after any regulatory hold period clears).

07Service availability

We aim for 99.9% uptime month over month and we publish our status at status.piper.market. Planned maintenance is scheduled outside Nigerian business hours where possible and announced 48 hours in advance. If a major outage affects your sale, payout, or delivery, we record it in your account and either retry automatically or compensate where appropriate.

08If we change these terms

Material changes are notified at least 30 days before they take effect. You'll see a banner in the app and get an email. If a change doesn't work for you, you can close your account before it takes effect — existing settled obligations finish their cycle either way.

09If you want to leave

Anyone can close their account. We'll process pending payouts and complete open orders, deliveries, or disputes. After that, your account is deactivated. Records we're legally required to keep (settlement, tax, dispute) are retained for the regulated period, then deleted.

10Where things are decided

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Disputes that can't be resolved between us go to courts in Lagos jurisdiction unless we mutually agree otherwise.

11Talk to us

Support is available 8am–8pm WAT, seven days a week. Open a ticket in the app for the fastest response (typically under 4 hours during support hours), or email contact@holuid.com. For urgent issues — lost rider, stolen package, suspected account compromise — use the in-app emergency button, which routes to a 24/7 line. For legal or data requests, use the data request option in your account or email contact@holuid.com with "Data Request" in the subject.
